Private enquiry & professional referral
Specialist private care for people whose lives, responsibilities and circumstances require exceptional discretion.
CLAIREN is a private, founder-led addiction and psychotherapy practice for executives, entrepreneurs and senior professionals. One clinician. One personalised plan. One continuous relationship, from the first confidential conversation to long-term recovery.
Why CLAIREN was created
Many clients come to CLAIREN having already experienced therapy, private treatment, or residential rehabilitation. The issue has not always been a lack of motivation or willingness to change. What has often been missing is continuity: care sufficiently individualised, coordinated, and responsive to the realities of their life.
For CLAIREN, privacy, discretion and continuity are not additional features of the service. They are principles around which the entire model of care has been built.
One clinician. One personalised plan. One continuous relationship.
The model
Care that operates like a private clinical retainer, not a series of appointments.
Every CLAIREN engagement is guided by four core principles. Together they shape how treatment is designed, delivered and adapted, from the first clinical assessment through active treatment and continuing care.
-
01
One clinician, throughout.
Sander personally leads every case and works with no more than five active clients at any one time. This deliberately limited caseload allows for highly individualised care, clinical continuity, and one therapeutic relationship from first assessment through to long-term recovery.
No rotating team. No unnecessary handovers. No need to repeatedly tell your story.
-
02
Additional expertise, personally coordinated.
Where additional clinical expertise would strengthen treatment, Sander coordinates the appropriate professionals around the individual needs of the client, integrating them into the overall plan rather than leaving the client to navigate separate services independently.
-
03
Built around your responsibilities, not a standard timetable.
Treatment can be structured around leadership demands, business commitments, travel and family responsibilities without compromising clinical need. Sessions are delivered online or in person at a suitable private location.
-
04
Continuity beyond initial treatment.
Recovery does not end when the most intensive phase of treatment does. The same clinician remains involved as treatment progresses into relapse prevention, consolidation and continuing care. The intensity of support may change; the therapeutic relationship does not have to.
Discreet · Unhurried · Clinically rigorous
Three standards that define every CLAIREN engagement.
Who CLAIREN is for
A deliberately focused practice.
CLAIREN is not designed for everyone, nor does it attempt to be. Its model is intentionally focused on a particular group of clients whose circumstances, responsibilities and need for discretion require a more individualised approach to treatment.
-
Executives and senior leaders
C-suite executives, board members, partners and senior leaders whose professional responsibilities and reputational exposure require treatment to be approached with the same discretion they expect in their professional affairs.
-
Founders and business owners
Entrepreneurs whose personal wellbeing, leadership responsibilities and business interests are closely interconnected, and for whom stepping away entirely may be neither practical nor clinically necessary.
-
High-performing professionals
Lawyers, financiers, clinicians and others working in demanding or regulated environments, where privacy, professional standing and continuity of responsibility can make conventional treatment pathways difficult to navigate.
-
Families, advisors and professional referrers
Partners, family members, family offices, physicians, therapists and trusted advisors are often the first to recognise that something is wrong. CLAIREN provides a confidential route for those seeking guidance on behalf of someone they are concerned about.
If CLAIREN is not the right clinical setting for your needs, we will tell you directly. Where medical detoxification, urgent psychiatric care or other specialist treatment is more appropriate, we will recommend the right next step and, where possible, facilitate an introduction.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is built in, not added on.
For clients whose circumstances demand a high degree of discretion, privacy cannot simply be a policy statement. At CLAIREN it shapes how the entire service operates, from first contact and communication through to treatment delivery, clinical coordination and continuing care.
-
Layer 01
Legal & structuralPrivately funded, by design.
CLAIREN operates on a private-pay basis. No insurance claims are submitted and no information is routinely disclosed through insurer billing pathways. Each engagement is supported by clear written terms. Where appropriate, an NDA can be considered on request.
-
Layer 02
OperationalA single point of contact.
Sander personally leads every case, working with no more than five active clients at any one time. Appointments, correspondence and coordination are handled directly and discreetly. The number of people involved in your care is kept deliberately limited.
-
Layer 03
Data & recordsSecure. Controlled. Purposefully limited.
Clinical information is handled in accordance with applicable UK data-protection and professional requirements, with access restricted to those who legitimately need it. Information is collected, retained and shared only where there is a legitimate clinical or professional reason to do so.
-
Layer 04
Governance & autonomyYour privacy remains central.
Information is not routinely shared with employers, colleagues, family members or other third parties without your knowledge and consent. As with any responsible clinical practice, confidentiality has defined exceptions where disclosure may be required because of serious risk, safeguarding concerns or legal obligations.
Confidentiality is maintained within clearly defined safeguarding, legal and professional boundaries. Any circumstances in which information may need to be disclosed are explained in writing at the outset of every engagement.
The founder
Sander Tubbergen is a psychotherapist, and the founder of CLAIREN.
Twenty years ago, an intervention followed by treatment at a private clinic in the UK changed the course of Sander's life. Since then he has sustained two decades of recovery and built more than fifteen years of clinical experience in psychotherapy and addiction treatment.
That journey shaped a clear conviction: addiction among high-performing professionals is rarely a simple question of willpower. Understanding the person behind the addiction — the pressures they carry, the function the behaviour has come to serve, and the realities of the life within which recovery must take place — is fundamental to sustainable change.
CLAIREN is the practice Sander wishes had existed when he was 28.
Your first conversation is with Sander. Every client is personally assessed and treatment is led by him, providing one continuous clinical relationship from the first confidential conversation onwards. The person you speak to at the beginning is the person responsible for your care.
Begin
A clear way to begin, whoever starts the conversation.
Not every enquiry begins with the person who may ultimately enter treatment. CLAIREN provides a discreet and clinically informed starting point for individuals, families, trusted advisors and referring professionals.
You are considering support for yourself.
You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or complete certainty about what should happen next. A private, confidential conversation is enough to begin.
Speak with Sander → For a partner or family memberYou are the first to raise the concern.
Often the first conversation begins with someone close to the person who is struggling. You can speak confidentially to understand the options available.
Speak with Sander → Family offices & advisorsYou are seeking guidance on behalf of someone you support.
An initial conversation can take place without identifying the individual concerned. Confidentiality and consent are established clearly from the outset.
Start a conversation → Referring professionalsYou are considering a specialist referral.
Where clinically appropriate, treatment can be coordinated alongside an existing clinician rather than unnecessarily replacing it.
Discuss a referral →CLAIREN accepts clients through private enquiry and professional referral. Every prospective engagement is reviewed personally by Sander.
One private conversation. Nothing more is required to begin.
A first conversation is not a commitment to treatment. It is a confidential opportunity to speak directly with Sander, discuss what has been happening, ask questions, and consider whether further assessment, treatment or other specialist support may be appropriate. There is no obligation to proceed, and any next step is taken only with your agreement.
Privately funded only · No insurance claims · No diagnostic information submitted to insurers
